Acreage and Habitat Services (AHS) specializes in planning, establishing and maintaining wildlife habitat and large acreages. This means that AHS meets with the landowner to determine what their specific needs are and then develops a detailed plan including site location, plant selection, and maintenance program to achieve the desired outcome. Whether it’s to add color around the house with wildflowers or to increase the size of bucks in a forest, AHS has the experience and tools to complete the job.

Services
Wildlife Enhancement: Whether it’s wanting more song birds in your back yard or wanting the best hunting ground in the area, AHS can develop a plan to suit your needs. From scouting and setting up feeders to planting and establishing habitat, AHS can do it all.

Custom Seeding: AHS operates a no-till grass drill seeder capable of seeding a wide variety of seeds. It has the ability to plant 3 different seeds at 3 different rates at the same time, including small seeds like clover and alfalfa and larger seeds like corn and soybeans for food plots. AHS also has a broadcast spreader capable of seeding larger areas where no-till planting is not applicable.

Pesticide application: AHS is a state licensed pesticide applicator certified to treat agricultural land, lawn and landscape, road right-of-ways, and aquatic sites. AHS can treat your property for weeds, insects, or plant diseases on a wide variety of plants.

Fertilizing: AHS can apply fertilizer either as a liquid with our sprayer or in granular form. AHS can apply fertilizer in almost any situation including lawns, landscapes, pastures, sports fields, golf courses, or any other area. AHS also can take soil samples to ensure proper nutrients are available in the soil for the plants.

Mowing: AHS considers mowing to be one of the most critical maintenance steps to establish a healthy stand of native grass. AHS can mow these areas in a manner that will not disturb the nesting of wildlife. This is done mainly in the timing of the mowing. An alternative to mechanical mowing is prescribed burning. Prescribed burning is done in a controlled manner and helps in diversifying the stand of plants and also controls the growth of unwanted shrubs and trees.

Trees and Shrubs: Planting or removal of trees can increase the quality of the hunting habitat, add shade to your acreage, and improve the health of the stand of trees. AHS has the experience to remove, plant, or prune all types of trees.

Service area
AHS can easily service the immediate area around the Omaha and Council Bluffs area and can travel to areas within a 100 mile radius around the Omaha and Council Bluffs area.
